In 2018, we began farming this beautiful ground near Red Knolls. It didn't take long for us to fall in love with the land; after just a year of working the soil, that love turned into a deep, undeniable connection. J.R. and I knew we had found something truly special.
We spent countless hours dreaming and praying for guidance, trusting that if this was meant to be, the Lord would provide the clarity and the means to make it a reality. On February 22, 2019, those prayers were answered and a dream became a reality: we bought the farm.
Our Roots
With the new farm came acres of unfarmable dirt, but we were determined to make the most of every inch. Just over the canal sat a couple of old structures. We saw a future here. We saw the potential to turn it into something truly special, even though we knew it would take years of dedication. We started where we could—spending weekends with family between our other jobs, hauling away decades of debris and beginning the remodel. After plenty of sweat, tears, and hard work, we turned that unfarmable dirt into our dream. In 2020, we held our first wedding and opened our doors to the world. It was the start of a slightly scary and exciting new chapter.
Turning Dirt Into Dreams
Years ago, my college roommate mentioned a guy named 'Jar.' My first thought? Who names their child Jar! It wasn't until I actually met J.R. that I realized it was a nickname used by almost everyone he knew.
Once we started dating, it didn’t take long for a friend to combine our names—Steph and Jar—into one: 'Star.' When we began discussing names for the venue, we found ourselves looking back to where we started. Star Barn was the only one that felt like it already belonged here. It’s a name we love, backed by a story we treasure even more.

Today, Star Barn is more than just a venue to us—it is the fruit of hard work and a testament to trusting the Lord and His timing. We are honored to welcome you to a place that holds so much of our hearts, and we hope that as you gather here with your family and friends, you feel the same love and peace that first drew us to this beautiful place.
